Senior Manager - Infrastructure Design

The main responsibilities for this role include:

The Senior Manager, Design - Infrastructure should actively manage and hold day to day responsibility for the development of the design in accordance with the brief requirements and should be able to contribute and be experienced in all aspects of the project management.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Full participation in: strategic planning, project appraisal and project evaluation.
• Scope definition and development; developing scope of works packages
• Assist with tendering for consultants and contractors, including tender evaluation, recommendation, responding to technical clarifications etc.
• Value engineering and value management throughout the development of the design

Manage and monitor all aspects of the design including;

• Design management
• Interface management
• Risk management
• Quality management;
• Environmental/sustainability management.
• Managing technical reviews
• Managing specialist consultants
• Authorities approvals

Lead key project decisions including:

• Risk assessment;
• Strategic brief preparation;
• Brief preparation/development;
• Procurement;

Further areas of responsibility include:

• Technical contribution to site-wide strategies for infrastructure and renewable energy
• Infrastructure design review – Reviewing design submittals from infra design Consultants for engineering best practice, innovation and correct coordination with interfacing projects.
• Consultant submittals will be in the form of reports, drawings, specifications, BOQs, etc
• Stakeholder interface management – Managing all aspects of interfaces with external third-party stakeholders, including local authorities for roads, all utilities etc.
• Management to include setting up meetings, chairing meetings, setting agendas, taking meeting minutes, following up actions, etc
• Manage design consultants, ensuring appropriate personnel are interviewed and engaged by consultants, managing deliverables against defined schedules, ensuring the quality of all deliverables received and reviewed, managing overall consultant performance, reviewing reports and escalating key issues and risks to senior management, whilst defining mitigation strategies and alternative solutions to technical issues.
• Contribution to management of site wide specialist consultants
• Coordinate with other members of the design and projects delivery teams, ensuring design and technical interfaces are being managed across disciplines
• Assist the projects delivery teams with proposing solutions to site based technical issues, creating proposals to save time and cost, monitor the quality and performance of any contractors designed elements.

Minimum of 12 years relevant professional experience with 8 years in progressive project management roles preferred as well as:

• BS degree in a project management or engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• Discipline specific professional registration preferred (PMP, PMI, ICE, RICS).
• Excellent knowledge of Construction Projects’ legal frameworks
• Excellent understanding of key project processes.
• Excellent communication skills and client understanding.
• Experience in coordinating multiple parties.
• Ability to meet deadlines, no exceptions – “Completer
• Finisher” attributes.
• Team oriented.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to facilitate meetings and to support mediation discussions.
• Excellent construction industry awareness.
• Very good knowledge if local authorities approvals processes
