Firdaus Studio has best in class sound engineering and equipment to be operated in three modes: Recording, Cinema, Event for different tier clients.

Opportunity Responsibilities

The Senior A/V Technician will assist the Sound Engineer in delivery of client’s requirements in terms of day to day technical requirements related to networks, audio and visual systems of the studio.

The main responsibilities for this role include:

Audio

  • Prepare Protools sessions including routing, labelling and general housekeeping of the sessions.
  • Coordinate with the Sound Engineer to develop optimal audio setups within the studio for the various planned events and sessions.
  • Deploy appropriate stage plots for recordings and live shows involving bands and orchestras
  • Liaise with Sound Engineer to ensure that the equipment installation and setup is inline the AV design requirements for the session
  • Deploy a microphone strategy designed by the Sound engineer, including input patches using available mic-preamps for recordings and live shows and other performances, as per instructions from sound engineers.
  • Set up equipment as per Sound engineers instructions including but not limited to microphones, cables, headphones, headphone amplifiers, wedge monitors, speakers, consoles, music stands, mic stands, risers, podiums etc. for all productions and sessions, and quickly mastering the requirements and special setups unique to each of the above.
  • Manage studios Audio networks (Dante, Ravenna, RTP, PTP)
  • Coordinate with the Sound Engineer to develop optimal audio setups within the studio for the various planned events
  • Manage audio routing and patching for recording sessions, mixing sessions etc.
  • Operation, installation and cabling of all audio equipment as per design, including but not limited to audio interfaces, convertors, clocks, workstations, preamps, amplifiers, speakers etc.
  • Wireless RF management for microphones and IEMS
  • Maintain / track all audio equipment inventory (whether owned, rented, borrowed etc) Laying & interconnecting electrical and AV cables during sessions.
  • Prepare / deploy appropriate technical riders as required
  • Remain current on audio design and industry trends, demo new technology when opportunities arise and seek these opportunities whenever possible
  • Supervise loading and unloading of trucks and high-value musical instruments and equipment.

Lighting and Session set-up

  • Understand and set up the AV lighting systems (Ayrton) along with the lighting console (Hedgehog 4) over DMX within the studio and associated lighting configurations based on the Studio usage.
  • Set up/remove room setups and change room arrangements, including tables, chairs and stages in accordance with the schedule of events
  • Disassemble equipment and packing up after the rehearsal/recording/event.
  • Read and interpret room diagrams with respect to A/V setups
  • Coordinate with the Show Producer/Sound Engineer/Client to develop optimal lighting and video setups within the studio for the various planned events and sessions.

Visual and Projector Operations

  • Operate the PTZ camera system and associated Tricaster Media Server
  • Operate the studios automation systems (AMX) including troubleshooting
  • Single point of contact for operating the Studio Projector and ensuring content is available and ready to be played for client sessions.
  • Manage the Studio Cameras and provide BTS support during client sessions.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • High level and general maintenance of all studio equipment, including L1 diagnostics, where possible. Incase further investigations and intervention is required in maintenance of equipment, raise a ticket with the Tech support, and ensure due processes are followed and completed until equipment is back to working condition.
  • Oversee seasonal maintenance by AV maintenance firm
    Understand and troubleshoot complex signal flows

General

  • Perform technical duties (as directed by the Sound engineer) related to all mixing, recording, performance, workshop and cinema exhibition sessions and not limited to rehearsals, performances, live-streams, captures, special events, tours, auditions, load-ins, load-outs, setups, tear downs etc. to the highest artistic quality, professionalism and technical standards
  • Operate the motorized truss & motorized acoustics.
    Inspect mountings and electrical equipment to ensure they conform to the requirements and health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain client and content confidentiality, ensuring no leaks and piracy arises
  • Pursue and maintain professional relationships within the studio, clients, musicians, orchestra, colleagues and management.
  • Comply with the policies and procedures of Firdaus studio and Expo City Dubai

Skills

5+ years’ experience in a studio environment and working in live sound environment as well as:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in Audio / Video / Music / Films and other media forms
  • Experience & in-depth knowledge in stage craft, audio, electronics, digital and analog audio standards and protocols, DSP and other associated hardware and software.
  • Experience using studio audio-video equipment
    Proficient in DAW’s, audio plug-ins, analog audio equipment, and music production techniques
  • Proficient in networking
  • Detail oriented
