Department Definition

The Real Estate and Delivery Division is responsible for the Design, Development and Build of all of Expo City infrastructure including Real Estate and Construction delivery for the Expo City. Working closely as an integrated team with the Project Management Consultants.

Opportunity Responsibilities

Lead the Environment Function through all the project phases (construction, operations, and decommissioning activities). Ensure the proper implementation of the EX20 Environment Strategy, Assurance Standards, and Environmental Management Plan.

In addition, the role is responsible to provide project teams with guidance on sound field environmental management practices during construction, operations, and decommissioning activities. Act as subject matter expert on environment issues across all site-wide activities.

The main responsibilities for this role include: 

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Develop and supervise the implementation of the Environment Assurance Standards, CEMP and Environment Strategy
  • Act as key liaison and coordinates with national stakeholders and governmental entities
  • Supervise and report environmental performance to Expo
  • Management and government authorities
  • Manage 3rd party consultants and suppliers
  • Monitor and regularly review the different environment regulations
  • Work closely with peers in other disciplines (Sustainability, Health and Safety and Worker Welfare) to ensure integrated strategies and systems
  • Engage with the Project teams and contractors to raise environmental awareness
  • Promote ecological biodiversity
  • Operational Responsibilities
  • Provide environmental advice and guidance to the project teams
  • Provide on-boarding and training sessions to consultants and contractors on the programme environmental requirements
  • Deliver targeted quarterly forums and communications across the programme to drive awareness on expectations and mitigate risks
  • Maintain active field presence through inspections and project meetings to ensure compliance with standards
  • Undertake audits on supervision consultants and prepares audit reports to provide assurance that the standards and CEMP are implemented
  • Monitor and reviews environmental studies, plans and reports prepared by the consultants and contractors
  • Ensure project level environment data logs are submitted on time and reviewed for content and accuracy
  • Maintain a database that feeds into the performance metrics
  • Contribute to programme-wide and projects monthly reports and sustainability reports
  • Oversee the commissioning and formal handover of all assets and ensures environment completion audits are conducted by Supervision Consultants
  • Ensure all service providers comply with environmental procedures, standards and guidelines, and promotes development of a positive organisational culture
  • Manage 3rd party consultants and suppliers from tendering phase to ensuring project delivery
  • Supervise and reports the periodic monitoring of fauna, flora, air quality, noise, environmental incidents, soil and groundwater quality, as required
  • Report environmental performance to various stakeholders
    Manage the procurement, functionality and operation of environmental data monitoring devices
  • Implement sustainability policies and waste management practices.

Skills

6+ years of professional experience in Environmental Management and Compliance, preferably on major development projects and/or events as well as: 

  • Relevant degree: University Degree (BE or BS) in an environmental discipline
  • A good understanding of UAE and specifically Dubai Environment legislation
  • Understanding of operations environment guidelines and legal requirements
  • Strong project management skills, including planning and organisational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Effective communication skills, cultural sensitivity and influencing skills to develop strong relationships
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to manage key stakeholders and strategic partners’ engagements
