The Real Estate Developments Division is responsible for the development and delivery of operational for the real estate projects at Expo City Dubai. The team is responsible for implementing the development strategy for Expo City Dubai and works with variety of stakeholders from the master planning phase, through design and construction, to ensure the delivery of large-scale construction projects.
Opportunity Responsibilities
The Director, MEP Systems Design & Delivery purpose is to be responsible for assuring and integrating appropriate technical and MEP solutions across the ECD and ensuring the timely execution and commissioning of building MEP and systems in all ECD building projects according to ECD strategies and standards.
The main responsibilities for this role include:
Design Stage:
Review MEP and technical design submissions to assure and integrate consistently across the ECD.
Support procurement of design and technical consultants by establishing requirements, setting briefs, and assessing technical submissions of tenders.
Add value by challenging and innovating on established methods of technical delivery where appropriate.
Ensure that the various design consultants meet their contractual deliverables to acceptable quality on time.
Ensure the deliverables from consultants are met to the acceptable quality for tendering.
Challenge the design to ensure that the Client receives the best product for the best value.
Contribute to the VM and VE Process.
Manage Peer reviews relating to MEP and Systems designs.
Evaluate and establish feasibilities for new / novel technologies and how these can be integrated into buildings design.
Ensure that the design consultant has and is implementing an effective strategy for statutory approvals.
Delivery Stage:
- Develop and maintain asset management/handover.
- Oversee and manage the role of the Commissioning Engineer and documentation platform for commissioning.
- Ensure Supervision consultants have the correct key personnel for MEP and systems material selection, engineering, construction and commissioning.
- Assist in procurement and selection fo Supervision Consultants
- Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
People Responsibilities:
- Provide Leadership and support to the team of MEP project managers.
- Conduct meaningful inductions, performance management reviews and personal development plans that support the development of individuals and the business.
- Contribute to succession planning and career development across their team.
- Support the development and delivery of training and awareness sessions as required.
- Provide project and team updates including monthly and weekly reports.
- Attend and contribute to senior management meetings.
- Attend and lead team and project meetings, cascade relevant information and encourage feedback from team.
- Engage with peer group and contributing to industry events and associations.
- Lead by example and ensure QMS and Project lifecycle compliance across their team and projects.
Skills
12+ years professional experience with at least 10 years in mechanical/ electrical and or civil/ structural engineering design and delivery as well as:
- BS degree in a mechanical / electrical / building services and/or civil / structural engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- Discipline specific professional registration preferred (Chartered Institute of Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural engineers).
- Experience in the design and delivery of large complex technical projects and/or programmes.
- Extensive technical knowledge related to the holistic and integrated design and delivery of the many disciplines related to site and building design and engineering.
- Pragmatic technical problem-solving that adds value for clients.
