Department Definition

Portfolio Management Office team consists of various functions with unique responsibilities and requires a wide-range of administrative support and coordination to ensure efficient document control and timely action.

Opportunity Responsibilities

Responsible to facilitate the identification of potential risks at department level (function/ sub function). In coordination with Head of Risk, develop adequate mitigation strategies to reduce/ eliminate the potential consequences, and provide a framework by which threats and opportunities can be best managed.

The main responsibilities for this role include:

Operational responsibilities

Risk Management:

  • Support the Head of Risk & Insurance in the management and delivery of risk management approach across departments in alignment with the overall organization’s strategic vision and objectives
  • Provide inputs to the Head of Risk in developing the Operating Model for Risk Management encompassing the 4 critical pillars – mitigate, avoid, transfer, accept
  • Assist in review of the risk management framework, gathering and considering feedback from department heads, in order to continually improve the effectiveness of the framework
  • Drive risk identification by initiating activities that detect, describe and catalog all potential risks to assets and processes that could negatively impact business outcomes in terms of performance, quality, damage, loss or reputation
  • Perform risk assessment to identify potential risks that could potentially impact the organization's ability to conduct business
  • Facilitate and enable risk quantification exercises to forecast loss frequency and severity to make financing decisions
  • Identify risk mitigation measures that could address risks identified and minimize negative impact
  • Conduct risk workshops with a focus on the various scenarios that could affect the department, division and organization as a whole
  • Engage with the various functions/ sub functions within the organization and assist in identification, assessment and mitigation of risks in a proactive, prioritized and holistic manner
  • Ensure Business Units, Division, and department level risk registers are up-to-date with mitigations by conducting periodic reviews
  • Periodically re-assess controls in place to identify any changes that may be required
  • Periodic review of the risk status to provide value added updates to management for decision making
  • Performing Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) on key quantitative models (e.g. financials, crowd flows, etc.)
  • Assist in determining the risk appetite and risk tolerance of the organization taking into consideration the overall organizational strategy
  • Determine risk levels to monitor the actual risk exposure of risks to ensure that the level of actual risk remains within the risk tolerance
  • Support and assist Risk Champions identified within departments to ensure department level risks are identified, tracked, mitigation measures are identified and implemented
  • Provide training and support to the departments on risk management processes including risk mitigation
  • Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required

Business Continuity Management (BCM)

  • Support the Head of Risk, as required in execution of the Business Continuity Management programme
  • Conduct full scale simulation exercise involving bronze and silver commanders in coordination with external entities
  • Create and document Portfolio Resilience Plan (PRP) for identified/ unforeseen crisis scenarios in compliance with UAE Laws and regulations
  • Document functional impact analysis for critical operational functions and ensure alignment against overall resilience plan and recovery procedures
  • Document and embed recovery plans, procedures, and relevant escalation matrices for customers, tenants etc.
  • Conduct crisis and Continuity workshops for select functions and document the recovery procedures and processes
    Reporting
  • Prepare and publish periodic and timely department level reports providing an overall update on risks, actions initiated, pending tasks, way forward etc.
  • Support the Head of Risk in preparation and periodic reporting to VP PMO, Senior Management, CEO, Audit or similar Committee on strategic risks and business continuity programme
  • Support Internal Audit in their annual Risk Based internal audit planning

Skills

3-5 years work experience in risk management as well as:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience of planning and organising complex activities, and delivering to time, quality and resource requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with a diverse group of people at all levels, and self-confidence to be able to influence and challenge at all levels
  • Proficient level ability in MS Office tools (MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word)
  • Proficient communication and networking skills
