Opportunity Responsibilities

The Senior Manager - Events will be responsible for the successful operationalisation of all events within the Group’s portfolio, including those designed for clients across sectors (NGO, International Organisations, Government, Private Sector), and those designed by the Group’s programming team as part of its stakeholder engagement and product/services pipeline.

The main responsibilities for this role include:

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Deploy experience and know-how to shape the delivery of EDGs events so that they position Expo City, Dubai and the UAE as a convener of choice.
  • Bring creativity and operational experience together to shape new, exciting and impactful events in person, online and in the virtual space.
  • Bring experienced and creative perspectives to the team, and curate thought leadership and outcome oriented programmes and events that drive awareness, engagement and impact.
  • Think beyond pure operations.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Develop event pipeline and long-term events strategy (including the roll out of the Programme for People & Planet) in line with the Group’s overall goals.
  • Design and implement the Group’s digital and virtual event and engagement strategy in close collaboration with the
  • Director and other divisions.
    Contribute to the design of programming and activation from the perspective of creative event delivery, including identifying and proposing new formats and tools.
  • Oversee and streamline day to day project management and event delivery across the Division’s event portfolios, to ensure the effective and successful delivery of the Group’s events.
  • Closely monitor budgetary needs in collaboration with Manager, Events.
  • Direct and manage research for insight on new event ideas, formats, tools and platforms to improve stakeholder reach and experiences.
  • Support the Group’s other pillars in the management and delivery of workshops and other activations for clients.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Events team (identify project milestones, review timelines and establish SOPs/workflows).
  • Contribute to the business development plan, client proposals and RFPs as needed.
  • Active role in the development of the Programme for People and Planet roll-out strategy in close collaboration with the
  • Director and other senior management.
  • Proactively identify gaps and overlapping elements between operational delivery and event/programming design to be collaboratively addressed.
  • Manage the partnership/relationship with Expo City counterparts (including logistics support, venue managers, etc.) and ensure all parties meet required milestones.
  • Review and analyse vendor proposals as the need arises.
  • Report into the Director (and senior management as required) across all ongoing event projects on a timely basis.
  • Conduct post event review and strategic analysis, with clear insight for future growth and development.

Skills

8+ years of professional experience (minimum of 2 years in the UAE) in senior position within event management, with a strong track record of successfully delivered events globally as well as:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Hands-on knowledge of both business development and event operationalisation
  • Experience in project management and programme implementation for mega events, with high-level delegations and VIPs
  • Proven experience in the design and execution of online/hybrid events to a global audience

Full understanding of:

  1. (Mega) Event technical and operational requirements
  2. Event permits, regulations and procedures in the UAE
  3. Other specialist requirements
